Hello, design enthusiasts! I'm bursting with excitement to share my thoughts on the latest collaboration that's set the interior design world abuzz - the Harlequin x Henry Holland collection!
I recently had the privilege of attending a webinar and getting a sneak peek at this exquisite range, and let me tell you, it's nothing short of spectacular. The collection, which launched on 3rd August, is a beautiful blend of Harlequin's passion for colour and Henry Holland's unique style in clay work.
So, what makes this collection so special?
Let's dive in!
A Match Made in Design Heaven
This collaboration beautifully merges Harlequin's mastery of colour with Henry Holland's signature style in clay work. The result? A cool, effortlessly curated collection of fabrics and wallpapers that sits at the intersection of ceramics and interiors.
Organic Forms Meet Bold Colours
Inspired by Holland's love of Nerikomi (a Japanese pottery technique) and hand-selected designs from the Harlequin archive, this collection brings organic forms and hand-crafted techniques to the forefront. Expect to see a delightful interplay of lines, structured patterns, and graphical elements.
A Palette to Die For
From grounded, chocolatey hues to muted blues and pinks, the colour palette is both versatile and on-trend. Keep an eye out for chartreuse, rich reds, and various shades of brown - they're going to be huge in the coming seasons!
Standout Designs
I'm particularly excited about the Southborough embroidered ombré chevron pattern and the Elsworthy moiré-style wallpaper. And don't get me started on the Blenets Check Mini - it's a statement piece that feels both understated and sublime.
You may or may not have heard of Henry Holland, but he's well-known in the fashion industry for running his own label, House of Holland, for almost 15 years. Henry describes this experience as
"incredible, amazing, exhausting, soul destroying and uplifting every single day."
During the pandemic, the business was sold off. It was at this time that Henry decided to explore ceramics as a new creative outlet. He started taking lessons and quickly fell in love with the medium, finding it both meditative and therapeutic.
This transition from fashion to ceramics marks an interesting shift in Henry's creative journey, showcasing his versatility as a designer and his ability to find inspiration in new forms of artistic expression.
Now, let's talk about Henry's favourite designs. While he's fond of Southborough (which, by the way, was surrounding him during the webinar), his top pick is Ellsworthy (Silk Moire fabric) Why? It's super versatile and complements every other design in the collection.
But wait, there's more! Henry gave us a virtual tour of his home, showing how he's incorporated the collection.
Bedroom: Large Blenet check on bed cushions and tub chairs, Ellsworthy on the walls and curtains, and the bed upholstered in Marble Tapestry. Talk about a designer's dream!

Dressing room: Custom wardrobe with fabric-covered doors and Elsworthy silk fabric lining the inside. It's like opening a jewel box every morning!
Cabin room: Cosy space with Blenets Check Mini in chocolate and terracotta, oatmeal cushions, and a terracotta blind. Perfect for a home office or a welcoming space for his nephews & nieces.
Let me describe the charming top floor room in Henry's house, as seen in the photos. This cosy space features lower ceilings and a dormer window, giving it a unique character. Henry and his husband have transformed it into a delightful retreat for their nieces and nephews.
The room is designed to be playful and fun, a stark contrast to the more adult-oriented spaces in their home. It's inspired by childhood memories of building dens under sofas with sheets and curtains. The centerpiece is a cabin bed with a geometric shape, perfectly complemented by the mini Blenets check pattern.
The colour scheme is warm and inviting. The terracotta colourway of the Blenets check is used on the cushions and bed head, and is repeated on the window blind. This is beautifully paired with a Caraway green paint colour, which Henry believes is from the Sanderson range. The combination of these colours and patterns creates a cohesive and charming space that's sure to be a hit with their young guests.
What I love most about this collection is its versatility. Whether you're looking to create a bold, character-filled space or a more subtle, sophisticated ambiance, there's something here for everyone.
As Henry Holland himself put it,
"This collection's palette can be interpreted in a multitude of ways for people to curate looks that reflect who they are... this synthesis of colour has universal, useable appeal."
